The Prakriti of the three Doshas, identified as Vata, Pitta, and Kapha is associated with different skin and hair types. The third dosha, Kapha, is responsible for oily skin. It is represented by earth and water, the flow of fluids throughout our body and for its general stability.

Honey

Honey, although a natural humectant absorbs excessive oil from the skin and reduces the occurrence of zits. According to Ayurvedic teachings, it promotes healing of wounds and sores, and acts as an antiseptic cooling balm! This sweet liquid treats skin conditions such as acne as it is antibacterial. Oily skin needs moisture too!, Drying of oily skin disrupts the sebaceous gland, making the skin more oily! You can use honey as a natural moisturizer and rinse off with water.

Bentonite Clay

Bentonite clay is astonishingly effective for oily and combination skin because it helps to control the sebum production and improve overall skin tone. Clay masks are slowly regaining their status in the skincare realm. It is part of Ayurvedic wisdom to switch to using clay as opposed to soap! Clay soaks up excess oil, without the drying effect of soap.

Jasmine Leaves
